A Pie Story

About Melissa

melissa-zapin
In 2015 Melissa began Grandma Ruth’s Pies in honor of her late Grandmother, Ruth. What started as baking for family and friends during the holidays quickly expanded.
While Melissa’s passion for baking is now her focus, she started her career as an Opera Singer. By the age of 15 she found a love for the stage and bringing people together through music. Melissa later went on to become Miss Hawaii and pursued Opera full time, eventually relocating to NYC. While living in New York, she had the opportunity perform at many prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and destinations around the world.
Today GRP operates year round in LA but was originally established and still operates seasonally in The Hamptons. What started with farmers markets and special orders has evolved into local delivery in the LA area as well as shipping flash frozen pies nationwide. Crowd favorites include the vegan apple crumble pie as well as the chocolate cream pie.
With a heap of flavors that explode on the first bite, GRPs contain fresh organic ingredients. Ice-cold hands mix together each pie to create the signature crust and filling. You have to try it to experience the mouthwatering flakey crust that is the perfect amount of sweet and savory.
Melissa delivers Grandma Ruth’s love into the homes of everyone that eats her delicious pies. Although she no longer performs Opera professionally, Melissa still loves to sing in the kitchen. You can listen to her in action @grandmaruthspies.
